Oh, I'm still here

varkam | 2008-03-19 12:57

I know it's been quite a while since I've written anything here, though I know you can forgive me. I just haven't thought of anything fantastic to write (though if you look at my previous posts, you'll see quite clearly that I have some rather crummy standards for what counts as fantastic). I am still around, though. Most of my computer time has been eaten up with moderating over at DU (FSM, I hate primary season). Aside from that, I have also been busy with the LSAT and getting my applications into law school. In the end, though, that all paid off. I've been accepted into law school and will begin in the fall, assuming I can figure out some way of paying for it.

All that being said, my interests are shifting in other directions. I guess that's a bit unfair to say - I am still interested in theology, religion, politics, medicine, and pseudoscience. It's just that these days I spend most of my time reading and researching law and policy. I'm not exactly sure where posts on such matters will fit in here on NG - but I guess we'll find out! I promise to try to come up with something good to write soon, but in lieu of that I just wanted to let whomever might read this that I'm still kicking.

Hi there!

I've been pretty busy with concerns here in The Fort to write for Neural Gourmet too (although I absolutely promise that is changing soon). In any event, it's great to hear from you and congratulations on law school!

Psychobabbler | 2008-03-21 12:21 |  Good to see you back!

Congratulations on law school, and all the best with the course. Incidentally, I should think that legal training could be quite relevant to debunking the assertions of the Troofers! 'Innocent till proven guilty' is certain;y not one of their concepts. If you survive moderating at DU during primary season, you will deserve not only a law degree, but the Nobel peace prize! I don't get much involved, as I'm not American, and I don't care that much who wins so long as it's a Dem and not McInsane. But I've noticed that some of it is amazingly nasty!

varkam | 2008-03-21 20:55 |  Thanks!

I don't know if I'd go so far as to say I deserve a Nobel Peace Prize...well maybe if DU can give me a little medal graphic next to my name Smiling

Yes, it has been incredibly nasty. As Colbert put it, it's the "Democalypse". It's as if the party is eating itself from the inside out. All I can say is that I'm really sick of it and that I'll be happy when we have a presumptive candidate so that, at least on DU, we can start cracking some skulls.

BuffyTFS | 2008-04-07 01:30 |  You're forgiven. I know

You're forgiven. I know how it is over there right now. I gave up posting there because of how bad it's gotten and have instead been concentrating on the blogs and other pursuits. I admire anybody with the fortitude to moderate over there--for free no less. Congratulations on the decision to go to law school. You'll do well I think. Now just pray real hard and the money will come! Eye-wink http://gaytheistagenda.lavenderliberal.com/
